This policy explains what data AtticLens ("the app") uses, why, where it goes, who processes it, and how you can delete it. The app has no user accounts.
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Photos you choose of an item (the whole item, its marks or underside, a signature or label) and the optional note you type | To identify the item and estimate a value range. They are sent only when you tap Appraise or answer a follow-up question, and only after you agree on the in-app consent screen. | Sent over an encrypted connection to our appraisal server and from there to a third-party AI service (see section 2). Not stored by us. |
| A random app installation ID (not linked to your name, email or device identifiers) | To apply the fair daily limit on appraisals. | Kept on our appraisal server as a daily count only. |
| Reports you send with "Report this result" (the reason you choose and the result text) | To review incorrect or inappropriate AI results. Your photos are not included. | Stored on our appraisal server. |
| Your catalog: saved photos, results, notes and tags | To show your catalog, totals and exports. | Only on your device. We never receive it. |
Before photos are sent, the app shrinks and re-saves them, which removes location (GPS) and camera details stored in the photo.
To identify items, our appraisal server (hosted on Cloudflare Workers) forwards your photos and note to Google's Gemini API, which returns the description and value estimate. Google processes this data to provide the service under its Gemini API Terms and Privacy Policy. We do not use your photos for any other purpose and do not keep them after the result is returned. You can turn off photo sending at any time in Settings; appraisals are then paused.
The free version shows a banner on the catalog screen and an optional rewarded video before an appraisal, from Google AdMob and its mediation partners (AppLovin, Digital Turbine/DT Exchange, InMobi, ironSource/Unity LevelPlay, Liftoff/Vungle, LINE, Meta Audience Network, Mintegral, Pangle, PubMatic, Unity Ads). These providers may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and ad interaction data to show and measure ads. They do not receive your photos, notes or catalog. On iOS, personalized ads are used only if you allow tracking. Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first and can change it under Settings > Ad privacy settings. See How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. To confirm a purchase, the purchase receipt (not your photos or catalog) is sent to our verification service.
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Results are AI-generated estimates, not formal appraisals. For insurance, inheritance or selling, consult a qualified appraiser.
